Please note that this is NOT a sponsored post for any of the brands mentioned; just wanted to share what I’m currently using and what works for me.

Believe it or not, it seems like despite not having lived too long in Miami, my skin definitely got used it. Which is why I noticed that as soon as our weather changed here in LA, my skin started to feel it. My skin started to get dry, something that had never happened before so I attribute it to the loss in humidity my skin suffered due to the move. Since this had never been an issue before, I wasn’t sure what to do. I mean this isn’t like a dry face where you lather on some hydrating moisturizer and call it a day; this was my arms and legs included. After trying a few things, here is the routine I now follow and have definitely noticed the change.

DRINK MORE WATER

Prior to my move to Miami, and for years before that, I used to be a huge water drinker but for whatever reason, my intake slowly declined. So, this was the first step I needed to take because being fully hydrated on the inside will always show on the outside. Besides trying to carry a bottle with me at all times to encourage the drinking, when I go to dinner at a restaurant, I skip the soft drink and opt for a glass of water with lemon (when available) and keep refilling. Sometimes I even ask for a cup to go, if possible. I also ask for a cup of water when I buy my coffee, that way I drink my coffee but also drink some water.

USE A MOISTURIZING BODY WASH

I’ve mentioned this before when I’ve talked about Dove products, but because of the Nutrium moisture Dove body washes have, I always end up going back to it. And I say going back to it cause several times I’ve tried to switch it up because I wanna try a new one, and I always end up going back to it. For the most part, it’s because after a while of not using it, my skin tends to feel dry, and it’s because of the cream the body wash has in it, that makes my skin feel so moisturized. This time around, wasn’t the exception either. I had switched to another body wash to try a new one and while it seemed to be working just fine, after a while I realized my legs especially were getting very dry, to the point that you could see the dryness; my skin looked cracked. It also started getting itchy. I knew I had to switch back. Once I did, everything changed. My skin no longer itched and was no longer dry and didn’t look the way it did before.

USE A BODY OIL

To add to the moisture I was already getting from the body wash, I decided to give body oil a try, but I decided to go with the Target version of the original Neutrogena one since the Target price was almost half the Neutrogena one, and is pretty much the same. I apply it every night after I shower. After I shower, I slightly dry my body so it’s still a little damp and then apply the body oil all over. It absorbs easier into the skin if your skin is still damp. I love the scent because it’s not overpowering, and it absorbs quickly without leaving you feeling oily or greasy. It also doesn’t stain or wet your clothes, or in my case, my PJs. It has definitely helped a lot.

USE MOISTURIZING MASKS AND CREAMS

Even though my face hasn’t really suffered dry skin this Winter, nonetheless, I decided to add some moisture as well. Every other night besides my regular night moisturizer, I add either the Neutrogena Hydro Boost or the Skin Medica Hydrator; but only at night. Then when I really feel my face needs a little more or maybe every 3 weeks or so, I use the Garnier Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating mask. The mask is amazing and highly recommended!

As you can see, a few changes here and there can help out in beating dry skin this Winter because even though we don’t get harsh winters in California, some skins do tend to suffer the change in weather. Hope some of these helped you if you’re currently suffering from dry skin. If you use anything else and you feel it works for you, let me know! Would love to check it out!
