A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to spend the day with Chevrolet and Chef Lorena Garcia here in Miami learning about the new Chevy Equinox and discovering new Latino flavors.

We started off the day by visiting a local Publix supermarket by driving in the new 2018 Chevy Equinox. One of the cool features of the Equinox is that it comes equipped with OnStar so we were told we could contact them for directions. It was pretty cool because after pushing the button, we were connected to an operator and we told her where we were headed. She looked for it and inputed the address into the actual navigation system for us so all we had to do was hit go! Talk about it being super easy to get directions. That way you don’t have to hassle yourself with looking for or entering the address; it’s all done for you.

Now, back to our route! We visited the supermarket with Chef Lorena herself and not only did we get a chance to buy the products she would be using, but she showed us how to buy the fruits, vegetables and meat properly. Did you know that a good way to buy everything fresh is to shop the way she does: shop the edges of the supermarket first because that’s where you find the fresh produce and meats, and then make your way into the aisles because chances are, when you get to the aisles, you won’t really need much more. Not only do you spend less, but you end up buying more fresh food. Smart, right?

We then passed by a local Palacio de los Jugos and sipped on some fresh coconut water and jugo de parcha (maracuyá/chinola) before heading back to Wynwood. Another one of the cool features we used during our ride that day was the Apple CarPlay and since the Chevy people had been nice enough to make a Spotify playlist for us with songs that had to do with food, all we had to do was open the playlist on our Spotify app and voilà! The songs actually made us hungry, not gonna lie lol.

We then headed back to Wynwood where we were hosted by Chef Lorena herself at her personal culinary loft in the heart of Wynwood. Once there, she and her staff cooked for us an amazing meal and chatted with us as she cooked and we ate. How awesome is that?! It’s not every day you have a Chef personally host you at their culinary loft and cook something up especially for you. I loved the experience, and the food was amazing! Here are a few more pictures from that day.

Thank you, Chevy and Chef Lorena Garcia, for a wonderful and delicious day in Miami discovering new Latino flavors all while driving the 2018 Chevy Equinox!
