Photo Diary of my most recent trip to Cabo San Lucas

We made it to Cabo San Lucas after 8 years from our initial visit, and it was mostly due to the great airfare deal we found. As mentioned in my previous post about Cabo, we mostly hadn’t visited because we were exploring other resorts that belong to our timeshare, but couldn’t resist booking when we found the deal. For those not familiar with SoCal and our proximity to the Mexican border, here’s a little info on another alternative to flying to our neighboring country.

The border is only about a 2 hour drive from us in the LA area which is why we frequently travel to Mexico, but also due to its proximity to us, it rapidly became a place to fly out of at a much lower price. People started crossing the border into Mexico to fly to another destination within Mexico but from the Tijuana airport because of the much cheaper fares since it now becomes a national flight versus an international flight. Because of this, a few years ago, the Cross Border Xpress was built which is essentially a Tijuana airport terminal but in San Diego in the United States side of the border where you can cross the border inside and walk into the Tijuana airport. That’s it! Super fast and much less of a hassle especially when going through Customs.

The fee to use the terminal and cross into the Tijuana airport (you literally cross the border inside without ever stepping outside!) is $16 one way or purchase a round trip for $30 which is super inexpensive! You can also park your vehicle at the terminal and that runs you about $15 a day more or less, which is also a really good deal.

Note that this is NOT sponsored by CBX or anyone else, nor was I gifted the pass. My family and I paid full price for our CBX pass. I just wanted to share with you the ease of traveling through there since I had such a great experience.

Now back to our trip, we heard Volaris had some great deals on flights so naturally because I’m always looking for a trip to make, I checked out their flight deals and was shocked to find a round trip from Tijuana to Cabo for $100! There was a cheaper flight (about $90 RT) but we opted for the one that included the checked luggage because checking it in separately would’ve cost more. So since none of us had restrictions work wise since we have a pretty open availability and our timeshare was in Cabo plus we hadn’t visited in years, without thinking about it twice, we booked the flights! The convenience of using Cross Border Xpress made it easier for us to fly out of Tijuana, and Volaris offered us the convenience of booking our round trip pass for CBX which meant we didn’t have to buy it in person or on their website; it was included in our payment of the flight. And just like that, we were on our way to Cabo. We were there for 4 days and just took the time to relax. We did visit Todos Santos nearby, but besides that, we rested by the pool and beach.

Here’s a photo diary of our trip.
