Hey, guys! A couple of weeks ago, I received a Sally Hansen VoxBox from Influenster to review the new Sally Hansen Miracle Gel nail polish. I’ve been using gel nail polishes when I get my manicure because it never chips. Up until recently I was still using regular nail polish and I ended up wasting my money because 2-3 days later it would start chipping. Even though I love gel nail polish, I dislike having to put my hands under the UV/LED light because of the possibility of it causing skin cancer. So naturally, when I received the nail polish I was excited to check it out because I had been eyeing it since it was launched. Before I continue, let me tell you a little bit more about the nail polish.
Sally Hansen claims the following of this product:
-No UV/LED light needed
-Quick to apply and easy to remove
-Increased wear and durability over time
-Up to 14 days of color and shine
They come in over 45 shades and are priced at about $9.99. Both the nail polish and the top coat are priced the same, but if you buy the gel set, you get both for $15.99. They can be purchased at any drugstore as well as Ulta.
Now, with that said, let’s get started with the review. I had my manicure scheduled for that same week so I took the nail polish and the top coat to my nail technician. He followed the instructions and didn’t apply a base coat as he usually does. He did, however, make sure the nails were very clean and bare prior to applying the nail polish. Once he started to apply it, I noticed what a beautiful shade of red (330-Redgy) it was; I loved it!
The color as well as the top coat dried fast, but note that the nail polish does NOT look like gel nail polish. That, for me is fine, because I don’t necessarily want the look, I just need the same durability. Once they were dry, I left hoping they wouldn’t smear later on. Luckily, they didn’t! Now came the real test. How long would they last before they started to chip? Here are a few pictures of what they looked like the day I put the nail polish on.
By day four, they were already starting to chip on the edges. I decided not to retouch them in any way because I wanted to give a real review about it. The nail polish kept chipping away and by day ten, they looked like this (see pic below). The product claims that it will last up to 14 days, but for me, it started chipping around day 4 and by day 10, I took it off right after taking the picture. It IS easy to remove with nail polish, which is probably why it chips so easily, too. Total disappointment. I expected more from this nail polish even though I knew it would be impossible for it to last the equivalent of a real gel nail polish. I had high hopes for it because Sally Hansen is usually dead on with their products. I would probably still use the nail polish again but knowing it will last pretty much the same as a regular nail polish. This new line of nail polishes DID NOT pass the test. I DON’T recommend it. As for me, I’ll continue with my gel manicures until I find something else that can equal it.
What about you, have you tried this nail polish? What did you think of it?
Disclaimer: I received the Sally Hansen® Miracle Gel™ Voxbox from Influenster for review purposes, but as usual, all opinions are my own.
Thanks, for the heads up.
I’m sorry yours didn’t stay on! Such a shame. 🙁 So far I’ve tried a few shades and all have lasted over 7/8 days with very minimal wear. Good review though, thanks
I love it. I have done gel manicures but they damage my nails. My nails are thin and removing the gel nails always damaged my nail beds. I have had miracle gel on for 7- days and barely have any wear. I do not baby my hands. Plus my nails are stronger while I wear this nail polish. You do need 2-coats of the color then I put the clear on but almost float it on so the brush doesn’t actually touch the nail and puts a thick clear coat on, it dries really fast. So……love it.
So far, gel manicure hasn’t damaged my nail beds and I’ve been getting them for over a year. Maybe I’ll give this nail polish another try. Thanks for the clear coat tip of applying it lightly!
