A little over a year ago I moved back to Los Angeles from Miami and even though I did return to visit Miami earlier this year, I had yet to do the same to Orlando. I have family there so our trip to Puerto Rico this year was the perfect excuse to head to Orlando first before heading to la Isla del Encanto.
Our trip was just a few days but we had a great time. Besides spending time with family, we did a small road trip to St. Augustine and of course, visited the Disney parks because no trip to Orlando is complete without that, right?
I teamed up again with my favorite car brand, Chevrolet, for this trip! The cool thing is that they have so many models that every time I team up with them, I am able to get a new one! This time it was the Chevy Blazer. Yes, the Blazer is still around! So many of you were just as surprised as I was based on the messages I got from so many of you when you saw me driving around in it. Check it out! It’s a beauty!
As soon as we arrived, of course after visiting family, the first visit was to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios!
Next up was a road trip to St. Augustine! St. Augustine is a city I love visiting, and one I’ve visited several times since I was little. Did you know that it is the Nation’s oldest city?! It was founded in 1565, and is the second oldest out of the US territories as San Juan, Puerto Rico is older having been founded in 1521! Seems fitting then that I would be visiting both during this trip.
Despite having visited many times, we had yet to take a trolley around the city to learn more about its history, so this time we decided to go for it. We loved it because we learned stuff about the city we didn’t know. Not to mention, it also took us through so many streets we had never driven through before. Definitely recommended if you visit St. Augustine. After our trip on the trolley, we drove through some of these streets ourselves in the Blazer, some of them were where we wanted to get off and visit the place.
Now, the trip to and from was very smooth because the Blazer is so roomy and comfortable. You guys know I’ve mentioned before that my favorite up to date had been the Equinox, but honestly, after driving the Blazer, I have to admit this one is my new favorite and here’s why:
It’s so pretty! Of course, that’s not the main reason to get a car but as women we can’t help and go for one that catches our eye, and this one surely did. Ours was grey and the cool thing about that color is that sometimes it looked white and sometimes it looked grey. She compared nicely next to other SUVs she was sometimes parked next to. On one occasion as we were exiting the SUV, a family passed by and the adults were talking to each other and I saw them looking at the SUV and then heard them say, “oh, it’s a Blazer!” Yup, she caught their eye, too.
It’s very roomy. For our road trip, it was just me and my mom, but for several instances while in Orlando, we drove around with some of my family and it was very comfortable. Not once did the back seat passengers feel crowded. It has a very roomy second row. It’s also an adjustable sliding back seat. The back seat also completely folds should you need extra space in the trunk. Look at how much luggage we were able to fit into the trunk without even lowering the back seat!
It’s very safe. It has 7 airbags, HD rear vision camera, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, rear park assist, and rear child security door locks.
Has some great technology. The model we had not only contained USB data ports, but it also had a 120-volt power outlet! No matter how many passengers you have, they will all have somewhere to charge their phones or tablets. It also has WIFI and hotspot capability. You can also connect your smart phone via bluetooth, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Most of this displayed in a beautiful 8-inch diagonal touchscreen.
It’s pretty good on gas. Ok, this one and the safety have got to be the top priority for mostly everyone. SUVs for the most part we believe burn gas very fast, but with the Blazer as well as pretty much all of the SUVs I’ve had a chance to drive from Chevy are pretty good on gas. I have a Toyota RAV4 and all of these SUVs with the exception of the Traverse are better on gas than mine. We only pumped gas twice during our stay, and the second one was only because we did the road trip so obviously we were using more gas than usual. The ECOTEC® 2.5L engine offers an EPA-estimated 27 MPG highway and the 3.6L engine offers an EPA-estimated 26 MPG highway.
Looks and feels like luxury. It’s not necessarily considered a luxury SUV, but would you think otherwise after seeing it? It’s very beautiful and the lines and cuts it has, including the wheels along with the leather interior make it feel and look like a luxury SUV without the hefty price tag!
Check out the pics and see why it really is the best midsize SUV you need!
THANK YOU, Chevrolet, for loaning me this vehicle for my trip back to Central Florida! I had a great time and it was a great experience driving around in this beautiful 2019 Chevy Blazer!
