If you happen to follow me on social media then you know that I’m always out and about attending events as well as conducting interviews, and the little time I have at home is to work and rest. Which means there’s barely any time to watch TV. Because of that, I rarely watch any shows anymore which is why when I do, you know that it’s because it’s really good! One of those shows is Queen of the South. Last year I learned about the premiere of the show at a conference here in Miami and started watching it. I was immediately hooked on it. The first season ended and I was dying to know if a second one would get the green light. Once I learned it did, I was excited to start watching it, which is why I knew I had to do 2 things: binge watch the first season on Netflix so I could refresh my memory, and have a viewing party with my girlfriends to watch the second season.
My girlfriends hadn’t watched the first season which made it all the more exciting. I told them about it and we decided to binge watch the first season together so they’d be caught up once the second season started this month. As soon as they started watching it, they were hooked as well so that’s when I knew we had to start planning a viewing party for the second season.
For the viewing party we decided to go with snacks and drinks a la Mexicana in true Teresa Mendoza form. Remember she is Mexican, so why not have Mexican treats! We decided to have it at my friend Ana Cristina’s house and we’d have chips and salsa and Lime and Cucumber Chamoyadas!
Check out our table with the snacks and drinks!
The Lime and Cucumber Chamoyadas were made by my friend Ana Cristina since it’s her recipe and I couldn’t wait to taste them. Plus, since it’s always hot and humid in Miami, they were a perfect pairing for the chips and salsa.
My Mexican side came out and I kept adding chamoy and tajin chile because it made it taste sooooo good! Plus, it was so refreshing since it was nice and cool. After spending some time outside watching the sunset and chatting, we headed inside with our drinks and snacks to start watching Queen of the South on USA.
The second season of Queen of the South centers around Teresa’s growth in the cartel underworld. This time around we’ll get to see Teresa come into her own as she starts to recognize her power and potential.
As Teresa learns what it takes to become the Queenpin however, she slowly realizes that ambition comes with a heavy price. Loyalties are tested, love becomes a vulnerability and moral compromises will have to be made. By the end of the season, we will come to recognize that “there can only be one queen.”
You guys can’t miss it! Tune in to Queen of the South every Thursday 10pm/9pm Central on USA Network! Make sure to have your own viewing party like we did; it makes it all more fun!
