Hola, hola! If you’ve been following along on my Instagram accounts, you know that I have been quiet around here because I was on vacation in Cancun, MX. There will be a post on that in the coming week once I sort out all of the amazing pictures I took while there, so stay tuned for that! I vacationed with my parents that live in LA and at the end of our vacation, my mom headed back to LA and my dad came back to Miami with me to spend a few days with me. Since last time he was here (in January), we were unable to make it to Key West as we had hoped due to rainy weather, we decided to give it another try now, so once we got back to the MIA, we headed out to Key West for a day. Check out what we did.
On our way to Key West which is about a 3 hour drive give or take from Miami.
Our first stop when we arrived was the home of novelist, short story writer, and journalist, Ernest Hemingway.
After visiting the house, we headed to the Southernmost Point of the United States, which lies 90 miles north of Cuba.
We then headed to get something to eat. We searched on Yelp and came up with DJ’s Clam Shack and decided to check it out since it had really good reviews. Once there, we also realized that it had been featured on an episode of Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Figured we couldn’t go wrong, and we didn’t. Had the best fried shrimp I’ve ever tasted!
Once we satisfied our hunger, we drove around the streets of Key West until we saw Mallory Square and decided to park the car and walk around a little. Eventually we also found a cute boardwalk behind the Westin hotel.
After a few hours of visiting, it was time to head back to Miami. I loved Key West and hope to be back soon to check out more of the city!
Have you visited Key West? Any suggestions for my next trip down there? Let me know!
