As I mentioned in my previous post when I recapped my experience at Hispanicize 2015 in Miami, I also had the opportunity to interview famous (or well known as she prefers to be referred to rather than famous) beauty blogger/vlogger and YouTube star, Dulce Candy. I had previously met her at the We All Grow Summit that I had the chance to go to back in February so when I knew she’d be giving interviews at Hispanicize, I jumped at the idea of doing so.
Now, for those of you that know me on a more personal level know that up until now I wasn’t very comfortable with interviewing people, but since I had already spoken to Dulce and knew her, I figured I’d give it a try. I originally had about 5-6 questions to ask, but when it was my turn, I was told that they were running out of time and that I had to limit my interview to one or two questions. Bummer. Which one would I choose? I quickly marked the questions I wanted to ask her and luckily she was nice enough to give me more time to interview her so I got a few more questions in. Here is the interview with Dulce Candy. Please note that I was sick that day so I did clear my throat a couple of times, and pay no attention to my bracelets making noise. I talk a lot with my hands (like a true Boricua!) and I had no idea the recorder would pick the up the noise. Besides that, I think it came out great considering it was my first time interviewing someone. Listen for yourself and let me know!
Before you listen to the interview, here is a little info on her if you don’t know who she is. Dulce Candy was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States as a child with her parents and siblings. She later served in the military (yes, she is a war veteran!) and then later began her YouTube channel. The rest is history. She currently has over 1 million followers on Instagram, and close to 2 million YouTube subscribers. She also has a huge following on Twitter and Facebook. She is also getting ready to launch her first book in August. She is a powerhouse Latina!
Wow, that’s exciting! Good job! Now that you know you can interview someone successfully, it will get easier every time.
Thanks! Yes, just takes practice!
