Every December as all of you know, for the last few years, my friend and I have made it a tradition to take a trip for our birthdays (because our birthdays are a week apart), and this year we headed to Seattle and Vancouver in Canada for a weekend getaway. This time my sister joined us once again.
Neither place was new to me as I had visited when I was 10 years old. My family and I made a road trip from LA to Vancouver in Canada over the course of about two weeks stopping in different cities, and I loved it. Years later I had wanted to visit again so we decided to do so for our birthdays.
We flew to Seattle and during our stay in the city, thanks to Chevrolet, we made a day trip to Vancouver as it’s less than 3 hours away! Sharing a quick recap with you here! I will go into detail and suggestions when I share the city guides for both cities!
SEATTLE
We flew in to Seattle Thursday night, grabbed dinner and checked in to our hotel. Flight wasn’t long as from the Long Beach Airport it was less than a 3 hour flight. Definitely play around with dates and airports when booking your flight to get the best fare.
On Friday, we woke up early as we wanted to make the best use of our time. After breakfast, we explored Seattle by heading to the Space Needle which has undergone some renovations since I last visited. One of them being, a special floor with some glass floor, which was a little scary but pretty cool.
After visiting the Space Needle, we headed to Pike Place Market and of course, visited the first ever Starbucks! If you didn’t know, Starbucks began in this one coffee shop location which has now become a tourist attraction. So of course, we couldn’t miss it and luckily it wasn’t too packed. We also couldn’t miss the infamous gum wall, and yes, as yucky as it sounds now, we also left our gum on that wall lol!
We tried not to stay out too late as we had dinner planned for that night. On our annual birthday trips, we always have a special dinner planned to celebrate our birthdays. This year, it actually fell on my friend’s actual birthday so that made it even better.
After dinner, we called it a night as we had an early start the next morning as we’d be heading to Vancouver.
VANCOUVER
Early Saturday morning we headed to Vancouver. The drive to the border was less than 2 hours and once you cross the border, it’s about a 40 minute drive to Vancouver which makes this a perfect day trip.
Once in Vancouver, we headed to Granville Island. We spent a good part of the day at the Public Market.
We then headed to Gastown and walked around a little even though it started raining. We passed by Robson Street which is pretty well known and then headed to the downtown area where we would be visiting Vancouver’s Christmas Market. We grabbed something to eat and headed to the Christmas market. After that, our day trip to Vancouver had come to an end and we hit the road back to Seattle.
CHEVY SILVERADO
During our trip, Chevrolet was awesome enough to loan us the 2020 Chevy Silverado LTZ in Northsky Blue Metallic, and while I was a little hesitant at first, I ended up loving the truck and the experience!
I was hesitant because even though I drive an SUV, a truck is bigger and considering we’d be making a road trip while there, I didn’t want to spend so much money on gas alone. Nonetheless, I was up for the adventure!
First of all, the color of the truck was beautiful! It was a beautiful shade of dark blue but not too dark. Hard to describe, but such a beautiful color. As women, you all know we look at these things and that’s important to us lol.
At first sight, it looked massive but I wasn’t worried since I had driven a similar one last year; I knew I just needed to get the hang of it again. The truck had all the luxury fixings so it was beautiful inside and out! Not only that but it was also extra roomy because of the double cabin (back seats). The front and back seats were extra roomy which was perfect for our road trip.
I must say that I was shocked at the gas usage of this truck. When I knew I would be having this truck for the trip, I was already calculating pumping gas about 2 times due to the road trip we would be having. When we began the road trip, I thought I would most likely have to pump on our way back because there was no way, the tank would last to and from. To our surprise, we never had to pump gas! Like, at all! Now, it is diesel which helps on gas mileage but even then, it’s a big truck and we drove to and from Vancouver plus within Seattle itself! When we returned the vehicle at the end of the trip, it still had 1/4 of a tank left! It was hands down my FAVORITE part/feature of the truck!
As with previous Chevy’s I’ve had the opportunity to use, the rear view mirror is an actual camera and works so much better than the usual mirror we are used to using while driving. Definitely another one of my favorite features. It makes the glare of your standard mirrors pretty much disappear because with a camera, there is no glare, so you get a crystal clear picture.
The truck we drove was fully loaded which made for a fun drive as it had heated front and rear seats (perfect for the cold weather we experienced), USB outlets, AC outlets, Apple Play, and many other features we didn’t even get to try out. The truck also comes equipped with wireless charging for your phone! We actually did try that out and it worked! Super cool!
Another feature which really came in handy specifically for this truck was the camera feature. Not only the rear camera, but the front view and aerial (bird’s eye) view cameras. I’m pretty good at parking and I probably would’ve parked this great as well, albeit would’ve taken me longer than it did with the help of these features. Check out first the quality of the cameras (both day and night) as well as how precise your parking is with it. Besides the cameras, you’ll also be assisted by the alerts it gives you when parking. What a way to master any type of parking!
The new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado has everything you could ever need in a truck and that’s what we loved about having this ride for our trip. We were always very comfortable and had everything we needed and more to ride in luxury. It also had a sunroof which we pulled back but didn’t open per se as it was very cold in both Seattle and Vancouver, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the views.
This truck proved to be perfect for road trips which is why we had an amazing time driving it around the city and even in another country!
Thank you Chevrolet for making this possible and for making sure we were well taken care of for this trip!
