Day trip to the Tulum Ruins

During our recent trip to Cancun, besides visiting Isla Mujeres, we also made a day trip to Tulum which is less than a 2 hour drive and lies in the area known as the Riviera Maya. The Tulum Ruins are Mayan Ruins that sit on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. It has an amazing view and is known to be one of the best beaches in the area. The Ruins are relatively small in size compared to Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan, other well-known ruins in Mexico but they’re nothing less than stunning. After a tour of the ruins, we made our way down to the beach. Visitors are allowed to take their bating suits and spend some time at the beach, but we were on an escorted tour so we didn’t stay long. After visiting the ruins, we also visited a cenote (sinkhole) nearby. Pictures can’t always capture the beauty of a place, but I think these can help give you an idea of how beautiful it is.

Durante nuestro reciente viaje a Cancún, además de visitar Isla Mujeres, también hicimos un viaje de un día a Tulum, que está a menos de 2 horas en carro y se encuentra en la zona conocida como la Riviera Maya. Las ruinas de Tulum son ruinas mayas situadas sobre un risco desde donde se puede apreciar el bello Mar Caribe. La vista desde ahí es bellísima y la playa es conocida por ser una de los mejores de la zona. Las ruinas son relativamente pequeñas en tamaño en comparación con Chichén Itzá y Teotihuacán, otras ruinas conocidas en México, pero no por eso dejan de ser menos importante. Después de dar un recorrido por las ruinas, bajamos a la playa. Los visitantes pueden llevar trajes de baño para bañarse y disfrutar un rato, pero como ibamos con un guía turístico, no nos quedamos mucho tiempo. Después de visitar las ruinas, también visitamos un cenote que quedaba cerca. Las fotos no siempre logran capturar la belleza de un lugar, pero con éstas creo que te podrás dar una idea de lo bello que es.
