A couple of months ago I started my vacation by heading out to LA to spend some time with friends and family before we headed off to Mexico to continue our vacation.

The day after I arrived we headed to Tijuana (Mexican border city with California located about 2-3 hours south of LA) and spent the day there. Not gonna lie, one of my reasons for wanting to head to TJ was to eat the best mulitas I have ever tasted y ¡cómo me dí gusto! Since moving to Miami, I often crave Mexican food and even though I’ve found some legit Mexican restaurants here, there are some things that can’t be equaled. If you’re wondering what a mulita is, it’s basically two tortillas stuffed with your choice of meat (in this case, carne asada), beans, cheese, cilantro, onions, and salsa/chile placed on a comal and cooked until crispy. I always ask for mine to be left longer on the comal because I like it crispy, especially when the cheese starts to ooze out and starts to get crispy on the comal. Mouthwatering, I know!

See what I mean about the cheese getting crispy?! Great, now I want one!

A vampiro (basically the same as a mulita except it’s one tortilla as a tostada and avocado is added on top)

Back in LA, I made it a priority to see as many of my friends as I could since I’d only be there for a week. I’m thankful that everyone I contacted took time out of their schedule to see me even if I didn’t get to see everyone. That’s what the next trip will be for.

One of my favorite coffee shops in LA, Urth Caffé, was the meeting place for a few of my get togethers with friends while in LA.

My favorite drink there is the Spanish latte, whether over ice or hot. Definitely, a must try when in LA.

Besides visiting with friends, I hit some of my LA fave spots, one of them being my favorite coffee shop, Peet’s Coffee. My favorite drink there is the iced caramel macchiato. Hands down the best one I have ever tasted, and I’ve tasted them all!

Another one of my favorite places is a Peruvian restaurant close to home. They have hands down the best lomo saltado I have ever tasted!

While in LA I also decided to check out a new spot that had recently opened. It’s called Horchatería Rio Luna and everyone is raving about it, which is why I had to check it out. I loved the décor of the place because it was so Mexican and so Frida Kahlo; two things I love.

I ordered the Oaxacan horchata (rice drink with melon chunks, walnuts, and pitaya sorbet), and churros. DELICIOUS!!!!!!! Some of the best churros I have ever tasted, and the drink was sooooo good. I had nothing to compare it to since it was my first time tasting this variation of horchata. Definitely going back to have that again plus everything off of their menu!

While in LA, I also made it to the Daddy Yankee VS Don Omar concert at the Staples Center. It gave me a chance to see some of my girlfriends and relive our concert days when years ago we always went to reggaeton concerts. We had a great time!

While in LA I also met up with my hair stylist (I haven’t found one I like in Miami so I see her every time I head back to LA) and decided to go for a little change. We went lighter with my hair and I absolutely loved it! In true social media form, a few selfies were taken 😉
