Travel Tuesday: Sayulita – Pueblo Mágico
A few months ago during our annual family vacation in Mexico, we visited Sayulita in the state of Nayarit. Sayulita is one of the 111 Pueblo Mágicos that exist all over the country. A Pueblo Mágico is an initiative led by Mexico’s Secretariat of Tourism (SECTUR), in conjunction with other federal and state agencies, to promote a series of towns around the country that offer visitors a “magical” experience – by reason of their natural beauty, cultural riches, or historical relevance. The Mexico Tourism Board acknowledges that México´s magical element, and not only its sun and beaches, is what keeps many tourists coming back. Thus, they created the ‘Pueblos Mágicos’ program to recognize places across the country that imbue certain characteristics that make them unique and historically significant.
Sayulita is a town I had on my list for a while now but hadn’t had the chance to visit yet, but this time around since we’d be visiting Puerto Vallarta and due to its close proximity to it, I decided we’d take advantage. We took a day tour from our resort and besides visiting other locations, we spent most of the day in Sayulita.
On our way to Sayulita, we stopped by a roadside market that carried fresh fruit, fresh coconut water as well as typical Mexican candies.
After stopping by and checking out the market as well as buying a few stuff, we once again jumped on the road to make our way to Sayulita.
Sayulita is a beachside town roughly about an hour away from Puerto Vallarta which makes it very accessible to visit or take a day tour to.
We had lunch at Don Pedro’s Restaurant & Bar which has a beautiful view of the beach and has some amazing food (no pics since we ate it before I could have a chance to take some lol).
Even before visiting I was obsessed with this little street I had only seen in pictures and looked forward to taking pictures here myself.
Sayulita is definitely a gem of a place in Mexico worth visiting at least once in your life.
Have you visited Sayulita or any other Pueblo Mágico in Mexico?
