On our annual trip to Mexico last year we also decided to pay Puerto Vallarta a visit because it had been a few years since we last visited which meant we were due for another visit. Puerto Vallarta is one of our favorite beach destinations in Mexico which is why we decided to make it part of our trip last year. We left Puerto Vallarta as our last destination after having visited Mexico City and the state of Morelos. We flew from Mexico City on a relatively short flight and stayed at Villa del Palmar Puerto Vallarta Beach Resort & Spa. We loved the resort and our stay there was great as well. Bahía de Banderas and La Jolla de Mismaloya
Mismaloya Beach is where the 1963 film The Night of the Iguana was filmed starring Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, and Deborah Kerr. During the filiming of the movie, Richard brought his wife Elizabeth Taylor to the set and location. This movie made Puerto Vallarta famous. Mismaloya Beach is located in the area known as La Jolla de Mismaloya, which in turn is located on Bahía de Banderas.
