As I mentioned in my previous post, on my 4th of July trip to México, I also visited the Ruta del Vino area in Valle de Guadalupe close to Ensenada, Baja California. Valle de Guadalupe is Baja’s version of Napa Valley. It is full of wineries and looks very much like Napa. I’ve visited Napa several times and absolutely love it so naturally when I heard about Valle de Guadalupe a couple of years ago, I knew I had to visit.

I planned a trip a few times but for one reason or another, I didn’t make it out there until now. We stayed in Tijuana but since Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe are relatively close by, we made a day trip out there. After doing some research (as I always do prior to any trip), we decided to visit El Cielo winery located along the Ruta del Vino and I absolutely loved it! It’s a relatively new winery (about 2 years old) and because of that, it resembles the wineries in Napa very much. While there, we toured the winery, did some wine tasting and also had some coffee at their café. It was so pretty that I couldn’t stop taking pictures! These are just a few of them (and they’re a lot!).

There are a lot of wineries down the Ruta del Vino and I’m very much looking forward to going back and checking more of them out. Since the area is still not that well known outside of México, it can still be considered relatively low key and because of that, it isn’t full of tourists from outside of México nor are the prices -for tours and wine- ridiculously high as certain places in Napa can be. There are also some great hotels located in this area, some of which are luxury hotels. There are also a few glamping (glamorous camping) hotels in the area. Those are the ones I definitely want to check out! El Cielo Winery currently has a hotel in their immediate plans. Definitely check out the area next time you’re in Tijuana or Ensenada. The roads are very well paved and there are a lot of clear signs that guide you to the winery you’re looking for which is why we had no trouble locating El Cielo.

There is also a wine museum called Museo de la Vid y el Vino in the area that is worth visiting while you’re there. Here are a few pics from the road and the museum.

Hope you enjoyed the post and pics!
