New-Year-Resolutions-770x295

Hey, guys! Hope you all had a great holiday season! I had a great holiday season, birthday and vacation! I will be posting about my vacation soon but for this post, I wanted to talk about new year resolutions. Do you have them? Do you actually follow through with them? I don’t usually make new year’s resolutions because I tend to not follow through with them. However, there is a change I’d like to accomplish this year.

Recently, a Facebook friend of mine traveled to Africa on a sort of mission, if you will, because she wanted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. It was something she had been planning for and working out for and it was finally time to go through with it. She was constantly connected through her Facebook so she shared her whole trip with us; we vicariously lived the experience along with her. I must admit, I would never go through with that kind of trip simply because it’s not my kind of thing. However, I was excited to see how her trip would unfold. The day after she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, she wrote a post on her Facebook about the whole experience and boy, was it long lol!!!! I must say, I cried, I laughed but most importantly, I felt inspired. I honestly don’t know how she did it and in a way, I don’t think she knows either. She showed that once you set your mind on a goal, EVERYTHING is possible. Reading her experience, I felt inspired to go out and do something I can feel proud of. Yes, I graduated college and I’m proud of that, I have a great career and I’m proud of that as well, but I want something else. I want something I can look back at and say, “I did it! I didn’t think I could, but I did!” Question is, what? I don’t know yet, I’m still thinking about it, but for now, I am going to try and do several 5k races. I did one a few years back and actually completed it. I’ve never been into sports or working out so when I did that 5k race, I wasn’t even working out so it was a challenge. Now that I workout, I’d like to try it again. Maybe do a few this year and who knows, maybe even do a marathon soon! This might seem insignificant to some people, but we’re all different and therefore have different goals. I don’t know exactly what that “thing” that I will accomplish will be, but I’m sure I’ll find it along the way. I think we just live such monotonous lives sometimes that we forget to do something exciting or inspiring. I speak for myself at least. It seems to be the same thing year after year and I’ve decided I want a change. I don’t know what it will be, whether it will be a move, a change in career, a trip or something else, but I know I will accomplish it; I have faith in myself. Whatever it is that I decide to do, I will make sure to share it with you guys.

What about you? Do you have anything you’d like to accomplish this year or in the next few years? Who inspires you? What inspires you? If you could do anything, what would you do? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this post/topic in the comments below. I hope this post somehow encouraged you to go out and do something!

Besos, Becky!
