As some of you might recall, I’ve mentioned before in different posts that I have oily/combination skin which lately was causing clogged pores on my face. The clogged pores were giving way to small bumps and dull skin. I didn’t understand why my skin was looking so bad until I asked a makeup artist who happened to be doing my makeup a couple of months ago about it. She said that most likely it was because I was cleaning my face too much and stripping the face so much can actually cause your skin to produce even more oil, hence creating clogged pores and bumps.

I didn’t know what products of my routine I could change in order to fix the problem. First off, I started with reducing the amount of times a week I used my sonic brush; from every day to once a week. That started to make a difference because even though I was still cleansing my face, I wasn’t using the brush. Then on a trip to Target, I checked out the skincare products and saw the Neutrogena Pore Refining line of products and thought It couldn’t hurt to try them out since that’s what it’s for.

I purchased three out of the four products: the Pore Refining Daily Cleanser, the Pore Refining Moisturizer, and the Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleanser. I started by using the daily cleanser in the morning and then applying the moisturizer. The exfoliating cleanser I was using at night after taking off my makeup. I was going to give it about two weeks to start seeing results, but I was surprised to notice a change within a couple of days. I’ve been using them religiously for about a month now and my skin has greatly improved. The pores are much less visible, much less! The bumps I had have slowly disappeared and some have even shrunk. My skin is much softer and my forehead is so smooth (the products say it smooths over rough, uneven patches of skin). The products contain Alpha and Beta Hydroxy and the moisturizer also contains Retinol. Because of this, make sure to use sunscreen when using the products because your skin is more prone to sunburn (although, you should be using sunscreen anyway, right?)

I absolutely love this line of Neutrogena products and I’m so happy I finally found something that works for my clogged pores. I wanted to share it with you because if you have the same problem, maybe you want to give these a try. Now, please remember that the results can vary by skin type; some people have experienced dry skin, so please keep in mind that you might not get the same results as me. With that said, I highly recommend the products and suggest giving them a try.

I also love that they’re relatively inexpensive so you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg on them. The Pore Refining Daily Cleanser retails for about $7.49, the Pore Refining Moisturizer retails for about $14.99 , and the Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleanser retails for about $7.49. They can all be purchased at Target and other drugstores.
