I’ve been a fan of Lilliana Vazquez for years now since her Cheap Chica days in Texas, where she’s originally from. Back then she had a bargain-hunting website called “Cheap Chicas” and then later wrote a book called, The Cheap Chica’s Guide to Style: Secrets to Shopping Cheap and Looking Chic. This was back when the term blog and bloggers was barely getting started. I loved her website and I loved her! She later went on to bigger and better things and eventually relocated to New York making special appearances on different TV shows as a style expert until she started making regular appearances on NBC. At this time she also re branded her website to become The LV (her initials) Guide, which is a lifestyle and style blog. She then became a part of the The Meredith Viera Show which recently ended after a 2 season run and has now recently signed on to the Today Show as a regular contributor. The only place Lilliana is headed is up; she is on fire!

Recently, I was surprised to see her on Un Nuevo Dia on Telemundo speaking fluent Spanish (see video above)! As a huge advocate of bilingualism, I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my favorites on Spanish TV speaking fluent Spanish! I was so proud of her! So it should come as no surprise that when I saw her last week at Hispanicize here in Miami, I knew I had to ask her about that segment. I was surprised to see she remembered me from a few weeks ago when we coincided at We All Grow in Long Beach, CA. The interview was literally last minute so the questions came at the moment but I loved how the interview flowed and came out because I loved everything she had to say. If you don’t already know, Lilliana is also Puerto Rican (dad is from Ponce, PR) and Mexican (mom is from Guadalajara, Jal., MX) like me! Another one of the reasons why I love her so much since that’s a mix you don’t see too often. I loved what she had to say in her interview because I identified with her so much. One of the things I believe in is in loving everything that makes you you because that’s what makes you special and unique. Just like Lilliana, there are instances when I identify more with my Mexican side and there are other instances where I identify more with my Puerto Rican side. It truly is one of the blessings of having a mixed culture. Check out her interview below and see why I love her so much. She really is a proud Latina and one of my role models.
