When I first started this blog, the idea was to also incorporate some fitness related posts into it. I never did because I never really felt I had anything specific to say about it…until now.

As some of you know, this past month of August was crazy for me. My grandmother became very ill and passed away two weeks later, we then had to make all of the arrangements for her memorial service here and her funeral and burial in Mexico (remember I’m half Mexican as well); she wanted to be taken back to Mexico for her final resting place. I later came back and three days later I was off to Canada for my vacation (it was planned and booked months prior so we couldn’t cancel it). That means that I never fully recovered from what had happened the prior weeks when I was already flying somewhere else, especially because I was still working at my full time job. As you can imagine, because of all of that that was going on, I stopped going to the gym. Due to the stress and the traveling, my eating pattern went awry and because of that and the lack of exercise, my acid reflux flared up again. Once I got back and actually started to get some rest, I realized I felt horrible. Horrible physically because of my acid reflux and all the problems it was causing. My digestive system was out of whack.

Getting back on track has got to be one of the hardest things to do. I found myself just sitting there not even knowing where to start but knowing that I needed to do something. My biggest fear of gaining weight and inactivity is diabetes. Diabetes runs in my family, on my father’s side. My dad has it, my grandma had it, and two of my uncles have it (one had it as he passed away already). My grandmother and one of my uncles passed away from complications of diabetes and it was something very scary to watch. It’s one of my biggest fears as I get older. Because of that, and because obviously we all want to look good (right, girls?), I decided a year ago I had to start exercising. I signed up with a trainer and started going to the gym as well. I saw some results but not as fast as I wanted to (I’m very impatient) so I started slacking off. Last month was just the icing on that cake. I finally went back to the gym last week and believe me, it was hard. I was only gone a month and this time I was out of breath so fast when I was able to do so much more before without losing my breath. I was disappointed in myself because now it meant I had to start all over. I decided that I had to start again (for the 80th time!). I have to do it for my health, because I love myself, because I want to take care of myself so I can have a long and healthy life, because I don’t want to encounter any difficulties when I decide to get pregnant and so I can be in my future children’s lives for a very long time. I need to do it for me. The question is, where do I even start?

I decided I needed a cleanse first and foremost so I can rid my body of the toxins before I start anything else. I asked my trainer and she recommended the 7 Day Quick Cleanse from Whole Foods. I purchased it this weekend and plan on starting it tomorrow. Another thing I have to start doing is exercising on the days I don’t see my trainer (I only see her twice a week). I also need to eat healthier which is extremely difficult for me because I am the pickiest person you will ever meet. I don’t eat vegetables, I don’t like them. So when it comes to creating a meal, there’s no vegetables in it because I don’t like them. And what’s the most you have to eat while trying to lose weight? Vegetables! Ugh, that’s where I get stuck. I also need to start taking my vitamins again. That’s why I can’t sit here and tell you what to do if you want to lose weight/get in shape; because I’m still learning myself.

Will it work? I’m going to be honest and say, I don’t know. But this time around, I hope it does. I made this public because I feel in a way it will hold me accountable in front of all of you. If you have any tips on how to make it work, let me know, I’d love to hear/read them. I plan on giving you guys a report/review of how this product worked at the end of the 7 days. I hope you continue to follow and encourage me in this journey…
