I was recently invited by Chevrolet to test drive their all-electric Chevy Bolt EV and while I was a little nervous about what to expect because I’ve never driven an all electric vehicle, I happily said yes. As I mentioned, I’ve never driven an all electric vehicle although I have driven a few hybrids so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I was wondering if it would feel different when driving so I paid close attention to the instructions they gave me before driving it.

The first thing I noticed when I sat at the wheel was the beautiful dashboard it has. The color touchscreen is so clear, the colors are so vivid and it’s big! It’s big but not too big if that makes sense. In fact, I was told it’s the largest screen in any of the Chevy vehicle models; 10.2 inches. Besides it having the (now) usual rear view camera, it also has a surround vision camera! Another thing I absolutely loved was that the rear view mirror also has a rear view camera built into it which means that it doubles as a mirror and a camera! Look, at the picture below to understand what I mean.

What you’re looking at is the camera, not the mirror reflection. Cool, huh?! Once in the vehicle, I decided to drive through Wynwood to test drive the vehicle. After learning the basics, I was ready to take off. First off, let me start by saying it’s not complicated at all. It’s easy to learn because it drives exactly the same as a gas vehicle.

Another thing worth mentioning is that even though it looks small, the vehicle is spacious inside and comfortable so you don’t have to worry about being super cramped during a ride. The model I got to test drive was the Premier trim which comes with all the nice extras (like leather seats, and front and rear heated seats among other things) and is currently priced at $41,780. The vehicle gets 238 miles on a full charge which is great. It also drives really smooth and very quietly. I’m telling you, you can’t tell the difference when driving between this and a gas vehicle! I absolutely loved it and loved the experience of driving it as well. It’s definitely one to consider. Check out more pics below.

Besides what I’ve mentioned, check out why it’s a great option to consider:

When you purchase one, there is a federal tax incentive up to $7,500 depending on your tax situation

The Chevy Bolt EV holds the title of Motor Trend’s 2017 North American Car of the Year

Car Journal heralded the Bolt EV as the Green Car of the Year

Green Car reports name it the Best New Car to Buy

Made the 2017 list of Car and Driver 10Best Cars.

After test driving it, I’m definitely more inclined to considering an all electric vehicle if it’s as easy to use and as pretty as this one!

Thank you to Chevrolet for letting me test drive the vehicle!
