Hey, guys! I know this has been a review some of you have been waiting for and I apologize for the delay, but I wanted to test it out for a while before I posted my thoughts on it. Prior to trying it out myself, I checked the reviews by different users on different websites and most of them seemed to be negative, but since I know it can vary by your type of skin, I decided I would still try it out.

I received a package from bareMinerals for review that contained 2 different shades and the special brush that it’s meant to be used with along with instructions on how to apply it. At first, I thought the colors weren’t a great match to my skin because they looked “too orangey”, but decided to try the lightest one out and if not, I would let them know so they can send be a better shade. Surprisingly, the color went perfect with my skin tone!

The package contained two shades of the bareMinerals bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 in Bare Sand 12 and Bare Tan 13 along with their perfecting face brush. I decided to try out Bare Sand 12 first since it was the lightest one.

They recommend you apply it by putting 2-3 drops (no more because that’s all that’s needed per side of face) into the face brush. The brush is different in that it has a unique fluid reservoir (which other brushes do not) that allows the foundation to apply evenly and streak-free. The first time, you might need to apply a little more as the brush is completely dry and it will absorb some of it so you won’t get enough foundation on your face. After the first time, all you need is 2-3 drops. You apply it in a circular motion so it applies evenly.

This is right after I finished my makeup routine. I use a headband to keep the hair out of my face while I’m applying my makeup.

Bare Sand 12 turned out to be a perfect match to my skin tone, which also matched my neck (remember, this is very important!). I could immediately see how it evened my skin tone as well as hide some of the imperfections I had. It went on very smoothly and it wasn’t greasy/oily, which is something I’m always looking out for because I have combination/oily skin so the last thing I need is for my foundation to make it worse. The foundation lasted the whole day, which was about 9-10 hours. So far, it’s my favorite foundation because of how easy it is to apply and how well it blends, as well as how it evens my skin tone and hides imperfections. I also like how lightweight it feels, you can’t tell you’re wearing makeup, it feels like a BB cream. I didn’t see any downside to it as other people claimed, such as it being cakey, greasy, oily, patchy, etc. But it is understandable since the results will vary by your type of skin, so your result my vary as well. As for me, I loved it! If you’re still on the ‘iffy’ side, I would suggest you buy it, test it out a few times and if you don’t like it, you can always return it.

Here is what the foundation claims:

  • Famous no-makeup look and feel.
  • Skin-loving formula. No silicone. No oil. No parabens. No fragrance. Hypoallergenic. Non-comedogenic. Dermatologist tested.
  • Clinically proven to improve the appearance of dark spots, skin brightness and skin texture.*
  • Coconut-derived base with jojoba-coated mineral pigments and non-chemical broad spectrum SPF 20.
  • Supercharged Lilac Plant Stem Cells and Vitamin C help to reveal brighter, more even-toned skin.
  • Ultra-thin, silky texture-one to two weightless drops naturally transform, soften and smooth your complexion.

The foundation comes in 20 different shades and retails for $29; it can be purchased at Sephora or Ulta. The brush is sold separately for $28 and can also be purchased at those stores.

Here are a few pictures of how the foundation looks on my face on different days and different looks.
